From 1972 to 1997, the country now known as Congo (Democratic Republic of) was called Zaire, with the change of name came a change of the national symbols, including the anthem; the author and composer of the anthem also wrote the Congolese anthem used previously, and reinstated upon the ouster of that government. The anthem mentions a “three coloured flag”, however the flag of Zaire actually had four colours (a black/brown arm holding a same-coloured torch with red flames upon a yellow disk on a green field).
