Vatican City
"Gran Marcia Trionfale" (Great Triumphal March)
Words by: unknown
Music by: Vittorino Hallmayr
In use: 1929-1949
The first anthem in use in the Vatican was also used on an unofficial basis by its predecessor, the Papal States (or "Church State") since 1857. Called the "Gran Marcia Trionfale", it was composed by Vittorino Hallmayr, the bandmaster of an Austrian regiment located in Rome. It may have been wordless.
Special thanks to: Ben Cahoon for informing me of this anthem and Pavel Zinovatny for the MIDI file.
