Lithuania

After Lithuania was incorporated in the Soviet Union, it was given a new anthem. When Lithuania broke away from the Soviet Union 50 years later it readopted its old anthem.

Note that in the English translation, "Soviet Lithuania" and "Soviet Union" are translated as "Counciliar Lithuania" and "Counciliar Union", since the word "Counciliar" was never changed to "Soviet" in these names in Lithuanian and thus it appears this way in the translation.

The version presented here is a slight change from the previous SSR anthem in that the third verse had references to Stalin, which became obsolete after his death.

Special thanks to: Yrjo Makela and Augustinas Zemaitis for some of this information, as well as Augustinas Zemaitis for the English translation, Jaroslaw Wojcik for the Lithuanian lyrics (Lithuanian script), and Pavel Zinovatny for the music file.
