During the Pahlavi dynasty of Iran, until the Islamic revolution of 1979, the national anthem in use had three verses; the first verse was the Imperial anthem (سرود شاهنشاهی (Sorood-e Shahanshahi)), the second verse was a flag anthem (سرود پرچم (Sorood-e Parcam)), and the third a national anthem (سرود ملی (Sorood-e Melli)), the lyrics in use dependent on the occasion. The music of the anthem is similar to the “Arab fanfare” style of anthem, except this anthem is more substantial and longer than the typical ones of this genre.
