After Yuan Chikai took over control of the country, a new anthem was adopted in June 1915. Yuan briefly declared himself emporer for a few months (from December, 1915 to March 1916), and as such the lyrics were slightly altered, to make him appear more divine. (The lyrics on this page are as they were during the republican era of Chikai's rule).
